Visit Dr. Nikolai Liubimtsev: theoretical and computational modelling of azopolymers.

16 September 2025

We were very pleased to welcome our collaborator Dr. Nikolai Liubimtsev from the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research in Dresden, to our HoloLith Lab. His visit was part of our ongoing and fruitful collaboration with Dr. Marina Saphiannikova on the HyperMaSH project, and it provided a unique opportunity to strengthen scientific exchange between our groups.

During his visit, Dr. Liubimtsev presented a lecture on the theoretical and computational modeling of azomaterials. Beyond the lecture, he also conducted a hands-on demonstration of his computational workflow and software tools, which allowed our team to explore the practical aspects of modelling azomaterial behavior, from polymer dynamics to opto-mechanical responses.

His visit sparked lively discussions and new ideas for both experimental and computational approaches for azomaterials, highlighting the synergy between theory and hands-on experimentation.

We are grateful for his time spent with us and look forward to continuing our collaborative work to advance the understanding and design of light-responsive polymers for HyperMaSH.
