A few days ago, I attended META 2026 conference at Trinity College in Dublin, where I was pleased to present our work on the holographic photomorphing of reconfigurable microstructured surfaces using azobenzene-based materials during the session “Commercialization of Metasurface and Nanophotonic Devices”, organized by Matthew Singer from Thorlabs.
Beyond providing an excellent setting for discussing recent key advances in photonics, the session offered an innovative perspective on the opportunities and challenges associated with manufacturing and commercialization of flat optics and nanophotonic devices.
The conference was also a great opportunity to reconnect with long-standing collaborators, including David McGee and colleagues from VectorScribe, engaging in fruitful discussion on our ongoing joint research. A particularly meaningful moment was meeting again Professor Federico Capasso, with whom I had the privilege of working during a highly formative postdoctoral experience at Harvard University.
